Salamander County Public Television from Penguin Pop Games is a quirky minigame-packed mystery-comedy set in a TV Station. You’re the latest hire at Salamander County Public Television and must deal with the most unusual of scenarios: everyone in the county has suddenly disappeared! Other than your boss, one more employee, and yourself, everyone is currently MIA. But, as the old saying goes, the show must go on! As a Professional Thing-Doer, you will have to do all of the activities that need to be filmed for broadcast.

Salamander County Public Television Review - 1

To do this, you’ll be playing through 25 different minigames as you aim to do the best job possible, working your way up to score bronze, silver, and gold medals based on your performance during each one. Pretty much everything shown in the game is a stock photo… which makes sense because stock photos were the first thing I thought of after checking out the Salamander County Public Television trailer – which you should certainly click watch right now!

Salamander County Public Television Review - 2

The overall story is bizarre and something that you should certainly experience on your own, so I won’t be spoiling things here. The videos that play as if they were part of the Salamander County Public Television programming definitely have that public access television feel. It features minigames that are weirder than, say, those in the beloved WarioWare series, especially with the stock photos used for their content delivery. You’ll be throwing the hop at a basketball to score. You’ll use a banana to launch an orange as far as possible. You’ll drive around a car with mushrooms for wheels. You’ll control a mouse with legs that keep getting bigger and bigger as it eats cheese. You’ll use magnets to bring together the halves of donuts to make the world go round.

Salamander County Public Television Review - 4

Salamander County Public Television is a bizarre minigame collection that uses stock photos along with weird public access style videos for its additional content. Its weirdness is something that might keep some of you from giving this one a chance since its humor is not going to be for everyone. Salamander County Public Television is ready for you as a Cross-Buy title, which means that for only $7.99, you will receive both the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 versions of the game, and each one will have its own trophy list with a Platinum trophy.
