Tilting Tiles: Ultimate Tiles Remix from TreeFall Studios takes the original puzzle game and gives us a spin-off that ups the challenge. You’ll get to play through the 55 levels from the original Tilting Tiles, but with new item layouts, special move amounts, revamped level design, and new move requirements. On top of that, you’ll also get to play through a new world with new levels. There are also new gameplay mechanics, such as a triple teleport system, all with a revamped presentation with improved lighting and visual effects.

The overall rules remain the same, so you’ll be moving a red platform around the area in one of four directions with either the left analog stick or the D-Pad as you grab all of the crystals on the level without running out of moves. You will have to press the X button to switch between moving a single tile or moving two tiles. Pressing the Square button will allow the red platform to move diagonally. Since you have a limited number of moves, you must find the right route to take so that you can collect all blue crystals in one go. You can also use the L1 and R1 buttons to tilt left or right as needed, which is sometimes required so that you can grab a crystal that is just a bit outside of the current tile you’re standing on.

If you played Tilting Tiles, then you know what to expect. What you won’t be ready for is how the difficulty is considerably bumped as soon as you start to play the first level in this new take on the tile-moving experience. The first level requires you to collect all crystals in 9 moves. This might seem simple, but if you have zero experience with the previous game and didn’t finish it, you wouldn’t know how diagonal movement will also allow you to collect a crystal that is floating between tiles. Your first instinct would be to move next to one of those crystals and use the tilt function, but that would require you to spend one of your moves, thus failing the level.

Tilting Tiles featured a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy, and that is also the case for Tilting Tiles: Ultimate Tiles Remix. The list is a very long one since it features 56 Bronze trophies, 4 Silver trophies, and one Gold trophy. You’ll have to complete each level in the game in a set number of moves, with the last trophy before the Platinum popping once you’ve completed all 60 levels that this one has to offer.
