Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG

Let’s go over what exactly this TCG entails.

What is the Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG?

The brand-new TCG in the 3.3 update for Genshin Impact is a lot more complicated than we originally thought. Each character card has the usual abilities (Normal Attack, Elemental Skill, and an Elemental Burst). As well as character cards, there are also Monster Cards and Action Cards.

Action Cards are split into 3 types:

  • Equipment Cards
  • Event Cards
  • Support Cards

The TCG allows you to duel with NPCs found throughout Teyvat, as well as familiar characters – there’s also a fun co-op mode too. To play against an NPC, all you need to do is interact with them, and select “Duel”. The next window that pops up will showcase the three challenge objectives that correspond to that NPC, as well as any Special Rules that apply. For example, “Both sides are affected by the Electro element”.

The main objective of the TCG is to defeat all of the opponent’s character cards. You can obtain a wider selection of character cards by progressing through the TCG. Cards are pulled at random in your deck, so we recommend creating a strong deck as soon as possible.

Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG – Elemental Reactions

The Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG features a similar system to the usual combat within the game. If you’re familiar with Genshin Impact, you’ll know about the all-important Elemental Reactions. Character cards have a specific element based on which element the character uses. For example, Yoimiya’s card has the pyro element, and Fischl’s card has the electro element.

Using a character card on one of your opponent’s cards will inflict that card with an element. For example, using a Diluc card on a Diona card will cause the Diona card to be affected by the pyro element.

You can then switch to a character card of a different element to create an elemental reaction. Using the example from above, switching to Fischl (electro element) and attacking the Diona card (who is affected by Diluc’s pyro element), will create the Overloaded elemental reaction.

Elemental Dice

The Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG introduces you to the elemental dice. To perform any action within the TCG, you need to use your elemental dice. Both you and your opponent will roll eight elemental dice at the start. Seven of the elemental dice will correspond with the usual elements found in Genshin Impact, which are:

  • Hydro
  • Electro
  • Pyro
  • Anemo
  • Dendro
  • Cryo
  • Geo

The eighth element is the “Omni Element”. You can use this to replicate any of the 7 elements. For example, a hydro character will need a hydro elemental dice or an Omni elemental dice – this is required to perform an action.

It’s important to note that elemental dice can be used to switch characters during the game, as well as allow you to play a variety of the other cards available (Equipment cards, event cards, and support cards). Using a wide range of cards allows you to use different strategies during a round.

An interesting feature of the elemental dice is that you can choose which rolls to keep. You can then reroll the remaining dice – but you can only do this once before the round starts.

Player Level System

Playing Genius Invokation will in turn allow you to earn player experience. The more player experience you get, the higher your player level becomes. The more your player level increases, the more NPCs and characters you can duel with.

You can check your player level by talking to Prince the cat (Duel Saint of Cats). Speaking to him also provides you with the options to start a tavern card challenge, or view the card shop (Card Shop’s Commodities).

Viewing the player level window allows you to see how many character cards you have unlocked. You can also check how many action cards you have collected, as well as how many open-world match challenge objectives you have reached.

In the Livestream we could see that there are:

  • 27 Character Cards in total at the moment
  • 238 Action Cards in total at the moment
  • 145 Open world match challenge objectives in total at the moment

Card Shop Commodities

By completing challenges, you will earn a new currency called Lucky Coins – you will also receive new cards and other rewards from these challenges. You can spend Lucky Coins in the Card Shop to purchase equipment cards, support cards, and event cards. From what we saw in the Livestream, Equipment Cards cost between 500 and 1,000 Lucky Coins. From the quick clip that was included in the 3.3 Livestream, we can see that the Equipment Cards are based on Genshin Impact’s artifact sets – for example, the Witch’s Scorching Hat, and Thundering Fury.

You can use these Lucky Coins to purchase some amazing dynamic skins for your character cards. These dynamic skins give your character card an animated illustration and include a bonus animation when using the character’s elemental burst skill. Dynamic Skins will cost 4,000 Lucky Coins – it’s time to get grinding!

Co-Op Mode

The Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG includes an exciting co-op mode too. There is a board on a wall to the left of where Prince sits – this allows you to begin the TCG co-op mode. By interacting with this board, you can invite a specific character to duel with or start a co-op match with a friend. Once you reach a certain player level, you also unlock the matchmaking mode – this will put you against a random person.

A crucial thing to remember is that playing against friends and other players will not contribute towards the Genius Invokation leaderboard, and will not allow you to obtain any rewards. This is because the TCG is focused more on PvE, with the PvP mode focusing more on a relaxing challenge.

Casket of Tomes

The Casket of Tomes is unlocked as you progress through the earlier stages of the TCG. It’s a handy item which can be used to alter your TCG deck no matter where you are. By selecting the Casket of Tomes, you can also check out the Proficiency Level of your current character cards.

Another useful feature of the Casket of Tomes is the ability to search for NPCs who have a match available. It’s important to complete all of these matches, as they help you raise your Player Level, as well as progress through the overall TCG. When you select “Search for Player”, a range of TCG symbols will appear on your map to show you where to go for a match.

Weekly Guest Challenges

To unlock the TCG weekly guest challenges, you need to reach Player Level 2. These guest challenges are brilliant for Lucky Coins and EXP – they even contribute towards the Genshin Impact battle pass!

Every week, there are 4 NPCs to play TCG with in the Cat’s Tail Tavern. These NPCs can either be generic ones from around Teyvat, or one of your favourite characters, such as Ganyu. It’s pretty easy to spot them, as they have the TCG symbol above their heads.
