Cult of the Lamb drops major content update for free later this year

Massive Monster has a major free content update planned for its excellent dungeon-crawling base-building game Cult of the Lamb this year, including new heavy attacks, quality-of-life features, and more.

The big free content update planned for Cult of the Lamb will add features “that many of you have requested,” Massive Monster and Devolver Digital say. The update is set to arrive some time this year, but first we can expect “another round of fixes” targeting issues for console players.

Cult of the Lamb has a big content update lined up for 2023

The Cult of the Lamb team has only given a sneak peek of the upcoming content update, confirming that heavy attacks will feature: each weapon will have its own heavy attack, including the sword smash move, while the dagger can spawn a line of multiple daggers for a “reliable ranged option,” and the axe can be thrown “like a boomerang” to rain down damage in two directions. Massive Monster and Devolver Digital add that the update will also target “depth, difficulty, accessibility, and quality-of-life” features. First, though, we’ll see fixes for console issues.

Cult of the Lamb is an interesting mishmash of genres and elements — it melds dungeon-crawling and base-building with great effect, and like Beacon Pines (which sits on our list of some of the best spooky Xbox Game Pass treats) it manages to be both cute and creepy at the same time. Will you be heading back into Cult of the Lamb when this update drops later in 2023? Let us know in the comments!
